  • Freddy at Regional show Hubertka in Bordovice – 26.7.2025

After all those international and club shows we made ourselves happy and went with Freddy to the Regional show in Bordovice together with our friends, which meant not only participation in the show itself, but also a nice weekend in Moravia.

Originally we were very curious about the opinion of the judge from Slovakia, who was also nominated for the judging FCI Group VI at the show, but in the end the judging of the beagle breed fell on the Czech judge Mrs. Lenka Fairaislová.

Freddy wanted this time to show off in front of his much more experienced dog friends and show who is the new raising show star. He showed himself beautifully both in the basic ring and in the wet grass in the final competitions (and he really didn't like the grass and wet grass after rain until recently). So he rightly got not only a nice judgement, the evaluation Exc. 1 and Winner of the junior class of the breed, but he was also selected in a great competition of young dogs of all breeds to the final five and finally won even 2nd place in the competition for the best junior.. And he even posed on the podium 🙂 We are very happy with him and we are looking forward to more show trips.

The organisers of the show should also be singled out – perfect large, flat, grassy rings, super refreshments and also suitable facilities clearly supported a great day. It is obvious that we will want to come back. Oh, and also – it's a show called Hubertka, which makes it clear that hunting dogs and hunting in general are top of mind here!

    Results:
    Freddy
junior class – Exc. 1, Winner of junior class
    Judge: Lenka Fairaislová

2nd place – Best Junior of the Show
    Judge: Anna Kochan (PL)

PS: Hugo stayed at home and supervised the preparation of a new independent dog living – an outdoor house. After all, he is an adult hunting dog and his carefree time at home is slowly coming to the end. Freddy won't let him down, of course, and they will soon be living in the outdoor house together.

  • Freddy is Hungária Junior Champion – 3x CACIB Sárvár (Hungary) – 17.-19.7.2025

Freddy (Piccolino z Negraland) went to Hungary with his owner at the last minute. Hugo (Néreus Hare and Hounds) stayed at home because he was participating in the National Dog Show in Mladá Boleslav on Saturday.

The 3x CACIB in the spa town of Sárvár had an unusual format of evening and night shows. The judging began at 7 p.m., promising better weather (lower temperatures), but we were very curious to see how it would look, how the show would proceed in the late hours after dark, and especially how Freddy would react.

Fortunately, beagles were on the agenda in the first part of the judging, i.e. between 7 and 8 p.m., so we were still running around in the ring while it was still light outside. We were very curious to see how Freddy would be evaluated by the judges, and although no written evaluations were provided at the show, to the credit of all the judges we met, they communicated their evaluations quite extensively verbally, either in Slovak or English. We would like to thank all three judges – Jozef Jursa (SK), Borsfaj Csaba (HU), and Enrico Drudi (SMR) – it was great to meet them in the ring!

We don't really speak Hungarian, so we didn't understand a word the staff in the circle were saying :-), but we are quite experienced when it comes to exhibitions, so we kind of know how things work (and studying the catalog wasn't too much work this time).
The evaluation of our Freddy was more positive than expected. He performed very well, even tolerating the less than ideal grass cover and not being distracted by the circle, which was uphill (or downhill when entering the circle). In the final battles for the best individual of the breed, he easily defeated the best junior female (so there was competition after all) and fought a fair fight with the best adult female, who had a slight advantage. However, the overall results are absolutely fabulous, and after three days of the show, Freddy took home his first junior championship – Hungária Junior Champion.
We decided not to wait for the final competition for the best junior of the show, as it was scheduled for the very end of the final competitions, which was well after midnight.
Grandma (i.e., the owner's mother) also joined us on the trip, and she thoroughly enjoyed the exhibition.

    Results:
    junior class – 3x V1, 3x HPJ (Hungarian version of CAJC), 3x J-CACIB, 3x BOJ, 3x BOS

  • Dog Expo Nitra and Club Show KCHB – 13.-15.6.2025

As members of the Slovak Beagle Club we did not miss the club show and when we went to Nitra, we also missed two of the three internationals that were held in the same place. Both beagles went on the trip only with one their owner (the other owner was abroad). In order not to have too much work in ring, only Hugo (Néreus Hare and Hounds) showed. But they had fun anyway, because Jerry (Jeremi z Kunčiček) with his owner Petra and uncle Michal completed the group.

Both starting beagles were alternately successful, but in the end both Hugo and Jerry left with honour and managed to finish Slovak Junior Champion, to which we congratulate Jerry and Petra very much.

But the mood was excellent despite the alternating successes, the whole group enjoyed it to the max and Freddy was glad he was on a trip and didn't have to show off :-)

  • Austrian Beagle Club Show and Ö-Show '25 – Kremsegg (AT) – 24-25.5.2025

At the end of May there is traditionally a club show of Austrian Beagle Club. Because we love the atmosphere of the shows in Austria, it was a matter of course for us to participate. It was not a single show, but a combination of national and club show. This year it was held in the park of Schloss Kremsegg in the town of Kremsmünster.

Saturday's show was bathed in spring sunshine and a relaxed atmosphere. Towards the evening it moved from the park to the hall of the neighbouring castle, where it ended with a buffet prepared by ABC members.

Sunday's club show was already marked by cold rainy weather. But that's the way it goes with outdoor shows, the sun doesn't always shine 🙂

Hugo was showing with his owner this weekend and again made the previous year of honest preparation with Pavla Brunclíková.

In the end Freddy was not lost either, he won Exc 2 (out of 5) in junior class at the club show on Sunday.

    Results:

    Hugo (Néreus Hare and Hounds)

    Saturday: 5. Ö-Show 2025 – intermediate class (Zwischenklasse), Exc 1, CACA, Ö-Showsieger ’25 ZwKl

    Saturday: 5.Ö-Show 2025 – junior class – VG 2

    Sunday: 47. Clubsiegerschau 2025 – junior class – Exc 2

Thanks to judges Lajos Holovitz (HU) and Burunkai Patricia (HU) for relevant reports and Austrian Beagle Club for organizing a wonderful show weekend. We would love to return next year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Austrian Beagle Club.

  • Regional Dog Show in Staňkov - 8.5.2025

On a holiday day we went to the regional show for the first time this year to Staňkov. Regional and regional shows have the specificity that you don't know exactly in advance which judge will judge your dogs. We were all the more pleased to meet the judge Lenka Frnčová again :-). Every such meeting is very nice, but also quite obliging – we just want our performance with the beagle breed specialist to be perfect.

This time Freddy (Piccolino z Negraland) was again under the guidance of Petra Kolegarova, with whom he already won 2nd place in Bratislava in the Best Puppy of the Show competition, and Hugo (Néreus Hare and Hounds) finally under the guidance of Pavla.

Well - basic round - i.e. morning judging would be good, both of them tried hard and got praise for their performance. It was worse in the afternoon in the final competitions - in a word "disaster". It was as if they had no idea how long a journey they had ahead of them (we continued through Germany to France and to the International Show in Monaco, and from Monaco to Switzerland for the Beagle Club Schweiz). This "performance" will be for a very big repeat at a future show.

    Results:

    Hugo (Néreus Hare and Hounds)
intermediate - Exc.1, Class Winner, Regional Winner

    Freddy (Piccolino z Negraland)
    puppy - VP1

  • International Dog Show Opole, Poland – 26.4.2025

In April, we planned our second trip to Poland, this time to an international exhibition held in the beautiful surroundings of Moszna Castle near Opole, Poland.

The nicer the area was, the worse the surface of the ring was with uncut and completely wet grass and uneven surface. In addition, the staff assigned to the ring clearly did not know what to do. Nevertheless, we fought back and Hugo in his last start in junior class won the last BOJbut most importantly CACIB-J and CAJCthereby completing two championships (Polish Junior Champion and CIB-J).

Freddy Freddy still doesn't like the grass (especially not the tall one), but he eventually stood up nicely on the table and in Puppy class he was awarded VP1 and The best puppy in the breed. For Freddy, this result also means fulfilled conditions of the second puppy championship, this time in Poland.

Amazing positive atmosphere in the ring and smooth course of judging despite the above-mentioned obstacles was again prepared for us by a great judge Mrs. Lenka Frnčová, for which she deserves a big THANK YOU for all participating exhibitors.

And we added two more medals to our collection!

  • Spring Meeting of Hunting Dogs, OMS Prostějov – 20.4.2025

Since the career of our beagles is mainly directed to hunting, we could not miss the Spring Hunting Dog Meeting. Unfortunately, our home OMS Beroun does not organize such a gathering, so we used the date and place suitable for us organized by OMS Prostějov.

Both Freddy and Hugo succeeded at the show, got nice evaluations in a different format than we are used to from classic shows, and overall we can say that we saw more interesting hunting breeds that we do not see at shows. All dogs at the show were very carefully judged by Mr. Ladislav Frnčo, including describing each of them to the spectators. This was a great experience!

Hugo even got a beautiful green cockade for the best dog of FCI Group VI.

Overall a wonderful event, super venue, perfect organization and refreshments. We are definitely looking forward to the next event in the form of hunting trials.

So now we have to work hard on our preparation so that next time we don't embarrass ourselves 🙂

  • National Dog Shows Zakrzow, Poland - 12.-13.4.2025

Since we were already in Moravia at EDS 2025 and NDS at EDS 2025, we extended our show tour to Poland, just over the border with the Czech Republic, where two national shows were held in the Zakrzów sports complex.

A beautiful place for such a show, nicely prepared, only the language barrier is a bit tricky for us 🙂 The evaluation of the dogs in Polish handwriting is really hard to decipher, but thanks to our Freddy's breeder we finally got the desired information.

Especially Hugo (Néreus Hare and Hounds) was stellar, who got Exc.1, CAJC and even twice BOS in junior class.

Freddy (Piccolino from Negraland) was competing on grass for the first time and after the winter indoor season both he and his owner were a bit uncomfortable. On the first day we got Promising 1 in puppy class, but on the second day everything was on top and we got Very Promising 1 and Best puppy in breed.

Judges: Marian Paweł Bocianowski a Bogusława Szydłowicz-Polańczyk (PL)

But after the four-day marathon we didn't wait for the final competitions and went home instead.

  • Národní výstava při EDS 2024, Brno – 11.4.2025

National Dog Show at EDS 2024, Brno - 11.4.2025

On Friday 11.4.2025 was the second show day for beagles in Brno, this time the National Dog Show at EDS 2025.

We combined youth with youth, Freddy (Piccolino z Negraland) had the honour to be handled by the best junior handler of the Czech Republic for 2024 Anna Plundrova. And they were great together! We are not worried about the future of handling and we will keep our fingers crossed for Anna in the EDS 2025 Junior Handling Finals.

Thank you Milan Plundra for supporting this idea.

Of course Hugo (Néreus Hare and Hounds) was not idle either and confirmed his "form" 🙂 in a strong competition of dogs from all over Europe.

    Results:

    Freddy (Piccolino z Negraland) – třída dorostu – VN3 (3/3)

    Handling: Anna Plundrová

Hugo (Néreus Hare and Hounds) – třída mladých – V3 (3/8)

    Handling: Pavla Brunclíková

    Judge: Mrs. Věra Dvořáková (CZ)

  • European Dog Show 2025, Brno – 10.4.2025

We were there! And even took away beautiful placements and ratings and especially a wonderful experience thanks to the TOP judge Lenka Frnčová, thank you very much. We have been looking forward to this cynological holiday for a long time and we are really excited.

Freddy (Piccolino z Negraland) with European Hope (Promise) 2025 and judge Lenka Frnčová, EDS 2025, Brno, 10.4.2025

We knew that this would be the culmination of our show efforts so far, but the result exceeded our expectations. We can see that careful preparation and pathfinding is paying off. All of this was enhanced by our most popular judge (beagle specialist) Mrs. Lenka Frnčová, who judged all the dogs and bitches of the breed with ease and great erudition. The atmosphere around the ring was extremely positive and finally the big ring with a white carpet (albeit in a sunken hall of the exhibition centre) gave the whole show the hallmark of uniqueness.

We also met a lot of important breeders from all over Europe and we are very happy that they are worth to say hello and have a few words with us. And we take that as a great appreciation for our only one year "career in the show ring".

Freddy and his handler Jitka Svobodova won the Puppy class and therefore the title European Hope 2025, which we take as a big commitment for the future.

But Hugo did not lose his way and confirmed his level by winning Excellent rating again in the busy Junior class. It is not possible for someone to participate in Junior class in two European shows (2024 in Celje and 2025 in Brno) and to succeed in both of them. Thanks also to Hugo's handler Pája Píchová.
